Last week we practiced communion.
This week we are practicing writing prayers.
Here's mine on the assignment: The Grandeur of God and Prayer as Pure Praise.
Abundant God, God of Comfort and Peace,
You dwell with us in the depths of our sorrow,
You delight with us in the heights of our joy,
And always, always, always in between
You are with us.
You abide in the eyes and smile of a man who knows that death is near and his life is ending.
You abide in the oblivious contentment of a baby in a bat costume who does not know his life almost didn't begin.
You travel with us through life and time, connecting us eternally to all that was and all that is and all that will be.
We rejoice in the infinite abundance of life in all its incarnations.
We rejoice in you.
Amen.
